FOR RECEIVING COMMUNITIES |

The United States has a long history of welcoming immigrants from all over the world.
This tradition is alive today as America continues to receive immigrants in record numbers. Local communities in which immigrants
choose to settle play an important role in welcoming, and eventually, settling newcomers. As immigrants continue to settle outside
non-traditional "gateways" such as New York and California, the need for volunteers to help teach immigrants English and civics expands.
The following links offer resources to the organizations and individuals that assist immigrants in their receiving communities, including
adult educators, public libraries, and volunteers. |
